Customer requirements
Sileby Memorial Park required the supply and installation of new play areas which would be suitable for young children. These would be installed in different sections of their site and linked by resin pathways and landscaped areas. They required public access to other existing play areas to remain open.
The customer, Sileby Parish Council, chose to work with us at MAC Groundwork Contractors Ltd due to having previously awarded our company several other local contracts and being extremely satisfied with the results.
Carrying out the work
The site was prepared by removing old play equipment and surfacing before carrying out groundworks to ensure a safe space for the new toddler play area. We also ensured that it was safe for the public to continue to access the other existing play areas near the site.
New play equipment was then installed in several locations across the site before completing with soft landscaping and surfacing which is suitable for play areas.
Groundworks
The project commenced by clearing existing blocks and rock away from the area and preparing the ground for the installation of the new play equipment.

Play Equipment
Old play equipment was replaced with new across the site which included:
Toddler play equipment.
Traditional play equipment including climbing frames, slides and swings.
Surfacing
Smooth resin bond surfacing pathways now link the play areas together. For durability, these included an asphalt base course.
Rubber mulch surfacing was added around the play areas to provide a soft, impact-absorbing surface.
Landscaping
The soil on site was utilised to create a mound around the toddler play park to separate it from the playing field.
The site was completed with soft landscaping. This included planting trees and shrubs and adding high quality topsoil to the planters.
The final result
The full project was delivered on time and on budget. The customer was very happy with the installation from start to finish and was pleased to have minimal disruption for public access to their other play areas.
