Customer requirements
This high-quality pump track was designed and built for the Eagle’s Rest housing development by David Wilson Homes in Milton Keynes.
The housing association required the course to be suitable for all ages and abilities and easily accessible from the adjoining play area.
Designing the pump track
The track was designed as a loop with an asphalt surface, incorporating several small rollers and banked turns.
This design provides a fun and exciting track experience for all ages, including young children. It allows users to build their confidence and skill whether they choose a mountain bike, BMX, skateboard, or scooter.
Carrying out the work
We carried out the full installation of this project, from groundworks to surfacing, to ensure a high-quality track installation.
Groundworks
After marking out the site, we excavated the ground to reduce the levels, finalised the levelling
and compacted.
To form the jumps and berms we utilised the excavated soil from the site. Teram membrane
was then added before type 1 stone was levelled and compacted.
PCC edgings could then be concreted in place either side of the track.

Asphalt Surfacing
A base course was laid and compacted first, followed by the final Ulti porous Tarmac surface.
The Ulti porous Tarmac provides a fast-draining surface which is perfectly suited for pump tracks.
To ensure each layer was well compacted, we used a wacker plate to compact along the jumps and berms and a pedestrian roller for the straighter runs.
The final result
We achieved a superb quality finish on this project.
David Wilson Homes were delighted with the results of the pump track and the positive benefits it will now bring to the residents and wider community.
